About Fargo Investor
Fargo Investor is an independent online magazine for private individuals who want to start or grow an investment portfolio without noise, hype or pressure. We believe that good investing is mostly quiet: it relies on diversification, low costs, patience and realistic expectations. Our job is to explain how that works in practice, with numbers you can check and examples you can follow.
What we cover
Our coverage is organised around four areas. In ETFs & Stocks we explain how index funds and individual shares actually work, how they are structured, taxed and traded, and what the long-term evidence says about picking stocks versus owning the market. In Pensions we look at retirement saving: state entitlements, workplace schemes, personal pension products and how to estimate what you will actually need. Beginner Portfolios offers step-by-step guides for people building their first portfolio, from choosing a broker to deciding on an allocation and sticking with it. Investment Costs is where we compare fees, spreads, taxes and hidden charges, because cost is one of the few things an investor can reliably control.
How we work
We explain before we advise. Every article starts from how something works, shows the relevant numbers, and only then discusses what a sensible investor might do. Where research exists, we cite it. Where outcomes are uncertain, we say so plainly. We never predict markets, we never promise returns, and we do not publish content that treats investing as entertainment or a shortcut to wealth.
Our cost comparisons are built from published fee schedules and worked examples, so you can see exactly how a 0.5 percent difference compounds over twenty years. Our guides are written to be followed in order, with each step explained rather than assumed. When rules, products or prices change, we update the relevant articles and note the date of the revision.
Independence
Fargo Investor does not sell financial products, does not manage money and does not accept payment for favourable coverage. If an article ever contains a commercial relationship of any kind, it is disclosed clearly at the top of the page. Our only interest is that readers end up with portfolios they understand, at costs they can justify, held for long enough to matter.
Who we write for
Our typical reader is not a trader. They are someone with a salary, perhaps a family, and a sensible question: how do I put money aside for the long term without being overcharged or misled? We write for that person at every level of experience, from the first index fund purchase to reviewing a portfolio built over decades.
Nothing we publish is personal financial advice. We give you the understanding and the numbers; the decisions remain yours, ideally made calmly and reviewed rarely. If you have questions, corrections or suggestions, write to us at info@fargoinvestor.com. We read everything.
